Confessions of a Teenage A-Hole!

When: Fridays. Continues through May 15 2009
Price: $14
Based on a good idea from director Jason Chin, this long-form, large-group improvisation builds on a given performer's confession of teenage mistakes and humiliations, delivered straight and with visual aids like photos and videos. The monologuist at the show I saw was John Langen, who looked awesomely dorky in prom photos. His recollections of smoking pot and having sex for the first time, badly, drew immediate sympathy--a connection that paid dividends in laughs when the group sent up his misery. The solid supporting players avoided direct dramatizations (lollipop sucking proved funnier than joint toking). But, like Langen's inelegant storytelling, their scenes sometimes felt aimless and unnecessarily long. --Ryan Hubbard
