This place is a secret jewel! They have three house specialties; traditional Japanese Shabu-Shabu, (which is new to Chicago but all the rage in New York and LA,) an amazing Sukiyaki and Yose Nobe- a traditional vegetable and meat hot pot- along with a delicious selection of traditional dinners, appetizers, specials and a large sushi/ sashimi menu.

They also have about 30 different sakes, and a small but nice wine selection. Everything on the menu (including the specials) is authentic Japanese cuisine- they even fly in the Wagyu (top quality beef) from Japan along with most of their sake, sauces, and teas. The prices are indeed a bargain for the quality of the food alone, but the service is also excellent. The owner, Chiyo, almost always welcomes you personally and visits your table to cook or offer tempting advice on the day's specials, and the servers work as a team, making you feel like royalty.

So far, they seem to have a devoted following of regulars but have yet to be discovered. People seem to come for everything from drinks and a few pieces of sushi to a full seven-course chef selection dinner. They have only a few main tables and 2 private rooms, so be sure to call for reservations- you won't be disappointed!
