Closing Time and The Imminent Future

When: Sundays. Continues through June 30 2013
Price: $8-12
Two one-acts share a bill in the Annoyance's new Sunday-night offering: The first, Closing Time, concerns an after-hours restaurant robbery and is billed as a noir drama in the style of Donald Westlake or Elmore Leonard, with all the amorality and double-crossing that implies. It also contains an extra dose of absurdity that's funnier and more bizarre than anything in The Imminent Future, a sketch about two women trying to decide, after the apocalypse, whether they should use a little boy they've come across to repopulate the world—this one's actually advertised as "absurdist." The actors substitute annoying mannerisms for characterization and the ending is nonsensical, even by the show's own fractured logic. —Aimee Levitt
