I like to root for and patronize small neigborhood restaurants, but my friends and I had a bad meal here. The place has great potential; the menu is actually well-planned and describes dishes that I think many people would like to eat, but unfortunately this restaurant really desn't know how to run a kitchen nor the front of the house.

We started out with a calamari appetizer with calamari that had obviously seen better days, served with an oddly named "Asian barbecue sauce" that tasted like any bottled barbecue sauce you'd get at a supermarket. The waitress was surprised and annoyed when we asked for a change of forks after the first course of (rather odoriferous) seafood.

We had the "Thought Salad"-- romaine lettuce, sliced tomato, fresh mozzarella, vinaigrette-- which would have been straightfoward and enjoyable if the lettuce had been washed. Is gritty salad ever excusable in any restaurant?

A pasta dish of whole wheat spaghetti with sauteed vegetables was pretty inedible--the vegetables were cooked to oblivion and saturated in oil. And since the waitstaff doesn't clear tables, I got to watch the oil congeal into a thick layer of yellow slime at the bottom of my bowl.

My friend had a baked chicken that was okay.
