Re: “The Avengers

To each his own, so the reviewer probably doesn't like comic book movies in general. But to be a writer and call Joss Whedon's writing "place-holder dialogue"...? You may not like the genre, you may not like block buster movies, but you should still be able to see beyond that and appreciate that Joss Whedon writes some pretty elegant and smart lines, sometimes very funny - without going low in offensive or sexist territory like most one-liners do. But since the story is not "about superheroes fighting an evil demigod from space" (that is just the situation, the framework) but much more about the constitution of trust, friendship and family, I guess the reviewer only watched the trailers.
Anyway: A film should be reviewed as what it is and not be judged poorly because it's not what the reviewer wants to see. Also the reviewer should really watch and pay attention and not let his prejudices take command. The above is just really bad writing - a placeholder review I think.
