Re: “Salpicon

This place is far over-rated in my opinion. It may be that the
chef / owner has delegated cooking duties, but I will never return to find out if this was just an off night. How in the world do you serve a bland mole sauce? I asked the guests around
me how their meals were since I couldn't believe how bland and
boring the food and presentation was. Three different tables all came to the same conclusion: Bland and overpriced. Not a single
compliment. I've read other reviews saying that this place gives Frontera Grill "a run for their money." You've not been to Frontera Grill (obviously). The killer for me: I was there on a Saturday evening at 7pm. OK, maybe the real chef was on vacation,
or was sick the week before, and they had a stand-in for both prep and cooking, but come on, a restaurant that expensive should
have it's stuff together. Sorry for the negative press, Salpicon, but my visit was nowhere close to being worth 85 dollars for three people (only two beers.) Maybe if I had read more reviews like this, though, I would've gone to one of Geno
Bahena's new places and been much more satisfied for the price. Your service was stellar, but your food was a laugh out loud joke.
