Drama
Four siblings in their 20s convene at the apartment of their father, a lifelong stoner, after he dies under mysterious circumstances. The central joke of this local production is that, even after death, the father remains a bad influence on his offspring. Everyone's too lazy (or preoccupied with the old man's toy collection) to bother with such responsibilities as tracking down a will or writing an obituary—in fact, the kids are so mellow that they have trouble grieving. Director Casey Puccini (who also plays one of the siblings) favors the sort of shaggy, improvised dialogue that's become a staple of ultra-low-budget filmmaking. Though familiar, the device seems appropriate here, since the characters have such difficulty completing their thoughts.
