Re: “Cops slammed for ticketing black cyclists: ‘It’s about the police harassing people’

"Except that the aggressive enforcement is there precisely because of a higher incidence of lawbreaking in the form of violent crime. The stats are what they are."

There is a higher incidence of lawbreaking among 21-29 year old white men around bars at closing time (public urination, drunk & disorderly, destruction of property, fighting/assault). Police don't find ticky-tack reasons to stop them.

This past Friday, outside Wrigley Field during the Jimmy Buffett concert, the police didn't have a problem with the white frat boy stomping around yelling after being kicked out of the ballpark, but 10 officers showed up to harass the black teenager selling water.

Re: “Time to yank Trump’s wretched name off his tower—or make him pay more taxes

Mounting Opposition,

IIRC, there is a limit on size of a sign on a building. The Trump building gets around that because the letters are not connected. It is considered five signs, with each letter being a single "sign".

Re: “The Mellow Chicago Bike Map: Our guide to the lowest-stress routes in the city

I am reading some of buster's previous comments. Interesting fellow. Here are some gems:

"So by extrapolating the concept of non-citizen voting, a Dreamer with an unquenchable desire to participate can sneak in the country and vote multiple times in any given election and only face a Juvenile judge."

"Homeless people are a surly bunch, they want to exist near society, but won't conform to it's basic rules. They are responsible for a lot of petty crime, and usually list drugs and drinking on their profiles as favorite activities."

"Wherever you have broken families, you have broken children, anywhere, and you're not gonna Karl Marx your way out of it."

"Fathers smell that skunk on junior and slap him with just enough force to discourage spliffing while not rendering him unemployably battered."

Re: “With his death-penalty ploy, Rauner uses an old trick he learned from his enemy: Mike Madigan

To you people who think the death penalty is a deterrent to crime,

Please explain why there is still crime in the 31 states that still have capital punishment.

Re: “Rauner’s reefer madness rules despite overwhelming support for legal pot

More nonsense from The original IAC.

Bruce Rauner doesn't care about school funding. He wants to break up the unions. Not just teacher unions, but also service and trade unions. If anti-union legislation was the key to economic prosperity, Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, and West Virginia would be the wealthiest states in the union. They aren't. They're the poorest.

Re: “Aldermen's absolute veto power over ward projects gets unlikely court challenge

Duuude,

I looked at that website. I find it interesting that Indiana, Iowa, and Missouri all try to encourage Illinois residents to move, claiming their states don't have high property taxes. Of course, they can charge lower property taxes because they are being subsidized by the federal government.

Re: “Don't cry, progressives: Pritzker win shows Dems more pragmatic, practical after Trump loss

It may be hard to believe, but many people (not me) thought Trump was the lesser of two evils.
