Dog beach daily not enough? Here are a few more ways to spend the summer days with your beloved canine—as well as a couple ways to help dogs that aren't beloved enough. —Sam Worley

Sip and Give Part of a series of networking events for professionals who want to support worthy organizations. Half the cover charge benefits Chicago Canine Rescue. There'll be wine, snacks, and a raffle for prizes including dog walking services, professional dog photos, and gift certificates for veterinarian house calls. Dogs are welcome. Bone Vivant Brunch A tribute to acclaimed veterinarian Dr. Sheldon Rubin—Oprah's vet—who retired last year after four decades of service to Chicago's pet community. Gimme Shelter! Walk for the Animals A 3K walk, with dogs, to benefit Red Door, a no-kill shelter for dogs, cats, and rabbits. Red Door is accepting fund-raising pledges on its Web site: you can be part of the Cat, Dog, or Rabbit team or create your own. Canine Cruise Bring your "canine companions" aboard the Skyline Queen for this yearly architectural cruise, which leaves from Mercury Cruiseline's Riverside Gardens dock (Michigan and Wacker). Registration required at events@anticruelty.org. Proceeds benefit the Anti-Cruelty Society.  Thu 6/24, 6:30-9:30 PM, 312-644-8338, anticruelty.org, $35.

Birthday Bark-B-Q Yappy Hour In honor of its fourth birthday, Wicker Park's Doggy Style Pet Shop offers barbecue, beer, and ice cream cake to its human guests and snacks and water to their canine ones.  Fri 6/25, 4-7 PM, 2023 W. Division, 773-235-9663, doggystylepetshop.com

PAWS Chicago 2010 Beach Party Organizers expect about 500 human guests as well as "100 beachwear-clad dogs" at this annual event benefiting the no-kill humane organization PAWS Chicago. The ticket includes an open bar, dinner buffet, silent and live auctions, and live music by Underwater People, with emcee Lisa Dent from US 99.5.  Thu 7/22, 6 PM, Castaways, 1603 N. Run for Their Lives Choose an 8K run or a 4K walk; dogs can participate in the latter. Another PAWS Chicago event, now in its tenth year, it also includes a canine costume contest, an agility course, and a performance by the Jesse White Tumblers.  Sun 9/26, 9 AM, Montrose Harbor, 4400 N.
