Farces are hard to get right. The plots must be complicated but not indecipherable. The characters must be recognizable but not predictable. And they've got to unfold efficiently. Jane Vincent's sex farce stumbles at every turn. The characters aren't convincing, the story—about a womanizer whose love life catches up with him—is awkwardly told, and most of the surprises aren't surprising. On top of that, the performances in this production directed by John Lisbon Wood (stepping in for Graham Ives) range from flat to disengaged. There are a couple exceptions: Judi Lee is fairly believable as an outraged ex-wife and Cady Leinicke makes a pretty good jilted bride. But the few sparks they provide are no substitute for the pyrotechnics we expect from a well-done farce. —Jack Helbig
