Truthful and funny in the style of the BBC series The Office, this indie mockumentary follows four young teachers through nine months at a fictional public high school in Austin, Texas, wickedly satirizing all the problems of the profession: insulting kids, difficult coworkers, crushing workloads. Mike Akel and Chris Mass, improv artists who have both taught in Austin, conjured up the script in 6 AM sessions before the school day kicked in and drew on a lively bunch of students and colleagues to cast the classroom and teachers' lounge scenes. Mass, Janelle Schremmer, and Shannon Haragan all give good performances, but especially noteworthy is Troy Schremmer as a first-year history teacher who makes every mistake in the book and whose students eat him alive. Akel directed; actors Janelle and Troy Schremmer will host a Q and A after the 7:30 PM screening Friday. PG-13, 85 min. Reviewed this week in Section 1. a Landmark's Century Centre.
