The wave of politically motivated kidnappings by the Argentinean military dictatorship during the 1970s and '80s supplies the premise for this 2003 debut feature by Gaston Biraben: a 15-year-old girl (Barbara Lombardo) is informed by a judge that her biological parents were political activists who disappeared shortly after her birth. Taken from her current mother and father, who appear to have forged her adoption papers, the girl is placed against her will with the surviving members of her birth family and forced to choose between the two clans' conflicting stories about her past. This solid and occasionally moving political drama falls short in its cursory treatment of the daughter's emotional struggle. In Spanish with subtitles. 113 min.
