Peter Byck's fast-paced 2010 documentary warns of imminent climate change—and its potentially disastrous environmental, economic, and geopolitical impact—while examining the promise and challenge of developing low-carbon alternatives to petroleum. Narrated by Bill Kurtis, the film stresses optimism by introducing viewers to such energy sources as wind, solar power, and bio-fuel. Among the interviewees are Earth Day founder Denis Hayes, Virgin Group CEO Richard Branson, passionate New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman, and former CIA director James Woolsey (who wonders whether President George H.W. Bush would have prosecuted the 1991 Gulf War had Saudi Arabia exported broccoli rather than oil).
