In a not-too-distant dystopian future, the environment and economy have finally gone kaput after years of decline. The Department of Homeland Security, meanwhile, rounds up anyone suspected of insurgent activity (i.e., everyone) and sends them to reeducation (i.e., torture) camps presided over by an insane and evidently immortal Dick Cheney. The militarism and loopy menace of Steve Spencer's script--given a brisk staging by Vance Smith for Black Sheep Productions--calls to mind Stanley Kubrick's Dr. Strangelove, but with an apocalypse-by-attrition substituted for the instant nuclear annihilation depicted in the film. Spencer has a fine sense of the ridiculous (Cheney insists the prisoners call him "Mom") and can write movingly of the world's decay. But at this point, jabs at the Bush administration seem not just outdated but easy. --Zac Thompson
