Lance Grande, assistant curator in the Field Museum's geology department, has spent the last 15 years excavating fossils in an area of Southwestern Wyoming called Fossil Lake--an 18-inch-thick slab of limestone that's 52 million years old. This fossil of a fish chasing another is just one of more than 100 specimens (including a 13-foot crocodile) on display in the museum's South Gallery through November 15. The Field Museum is on Lake Shore Drive at Roosevelt Road, and it's open 9 to 5 daily; admission is $4 for adults, $2.50 for children. Call 922-9410 for more.
