Re: “The economic causes of Chicago’s violence

Or, and your question is "is your assumption that "lack of moral values and bad parenting" would screw things up?"

Hmmm. Yes. It is.

Re: “The economic causes of Chicago’s violence

@John Greenfield - Given? F'ing given? You shouldn't need to be given anything in order to not shoot someone except proper guidance and moral instruction from your family at a young age. That's ridiculous. And it won't work anyway. You liberal Democrats have a half century track record which cumulated into 4,378 shot last year. If you guys were employed at improving the lives of poor people you'd have been fired decades ago. Time to try something else.

Re: “The economic causes of Chicago’s violence

Well, the very simple, if not PC reason, is because the development money is focused on bringing in and retaining people who will bring economic prosperity to Chicago. Dumping $$$ into North Lawndale and Englewood? Well, what's that really going to accomplish? The problem is lack of moral values and bad parenting, not lack of money. It might alleviate some white guilt, but that's about it. We've had enough of well meaning social programs, IMHO. Time to demand accountability, from those in the communities of violence.

Re: “Activists worry CTA-friendly housing will accelerate Logan Square gentrification

Sorry but plenty of affordable places with good transit are available to the marginally incomed. The Pink Line and Metra run through Cicero, and Berwyn has the Metra, and Blue Line right nearby. Both have a lot of rentals. What's wrong with those towns? Not cool enough?
