A martial arts master (Chow Yun-fat) mentors a New York pickpocket (Seann William Scott), and together they battle an octogenarian Nazi in a wheelchair who commands a team of musclebound bouncers in bad suits. Ethan Reiff and Cyrus Voris wrote the mildly cornball script, adapting a comic book series from Flypaper Press; the fight scenes are routine, the humor juvenile, and the Toronto locales rendered drab through muddy cinematography. The film plays off Chow's imperturbable persona, but the Tibetan philosophy boils down to the paradox of hot dogs coming ten to a package while buns are sold in sets of eight. Paul Hunter directed. 104 min.
