A recovering addict who's willing to face the truth can be a great storyteller, and writer-director John Kastholm is ruthlessly honest in this play about his struggles with heroin addiction and homelessness. Harrowing moments flow like coffee at a 12-step meeting when he occasionally takes the stage. But the story becomes hopelessly muddled when filtered through the mostly nonprofessional cast of this Scrap Mettle Soul production, who play him in a series of monologues and vignettes. He should either tell it himself, or let his diverse group of performers tell their own. --Keith Griffith
