Pauline Kael described this 1971 exploitation flick as “excruciatingly shrill.” As well she might, since it's the work of schlockster stylist Larry Cohen (It's Alive!), and where would J. Edgar Hoover be without him? It was Cohen's debut feature, about some happy middle-classniks screaming at each other around a Beverly Hills swimming pool. The alternate title is Dial Rat for Terror, which should tell you something. With Yaphet Kotto, Jeannie Berlin, and Joyce Van Patten.
