Bobby's Con

Dear editor,

So Bobby Conn is deep and relevant because he has appropriated Badfinger's "Without You" to expose its "disingenuous" sentiments [October 22]. Actually, all he's done is cover the song. Fascinating. There's volumes of deconstructivist fodder for rock journalists right there, man. Bobby is probably just frustrated in his apparent inability to write a decent, moving love song himself. What would be far more difficult would be to drop the wall of irony and show us authentic emotion and vulnerability.
