Stunning vistas of New Zealand's rolling countryside aren't enough to carry this lame 2006 horror spoof about a lab experiment gone awry. Seeking closure with his older sibling (Peter Feeney) after 15 years of estrangement, a phobic young man (Nathan Meister) returns to their bucolic ancestral home. Big brother has used the family's ranch to pursue a sideline of genetically engineered sheep, but the arrogant scientist he's employed is on her own mad tangent, producing an army of man-eating weresheep. If writer-director Jonathan King had been either sillier or more pointed in his satire, he might have aimed for a Kiwi clone of Shaun of the Dead. By default the puppets and animatronic creations of fabled Weta Workshop take center stage, but the rather crudely rendered monsters look like leftovers from a tag sale for indie filmmakers. 87 min.
