Re: “Comics and outsider art expert Michael Bonesteel blasts ‘Title IX abuse’ at SAIC

Bold gay artists in search of a theme might consider a series of painting (like the Stations of the Cross) about one horrific murder ...

While on the subject of appropriate themes for aspiring artists of the "Look at my Shocking Work and be Shocked" school, there is enough raw meat* here ... perhaps a series of paintings rather like the Stations of the Cross

The mention of "raw meat" should have been prefaced by a trigger warning - ATTENTION! TRIGGER WARNING ALERT! - in case any card-carrying Vegans or strict SDA herbivores are reading this and likely to go into shock

During the Civil War, many Confederate POWs were led in confinement in Chicago. Some of the dead were not accorded burial at once but were sold surreptitiously to eager students who needed cadavers for their studies,

A fit subject for an artist in need of a theme, perhaps?

Re: “Comics and outsider art expert Michael Bonesteel blasts ‘Title IX abuse’ at SAIC

A few students at a very very expensive art school of less than stellar reputation in the real world whine and whimper about the absence of *trigger warnings* about something or other that might shock them momentarily or cause them to lose sleep?

They retaliate for the hurt and distress inflicted on them, the poor pampered darlings, by screwing up the career of a no-longer-young public intellectual with an international reputation.

Gosh, isn't it just as well that they were not obliged to attend a course called - say - "Carnage and Cruelty in the Visual Arts" (I just made that up! Can I have my Grant Money now, please?)

The course would lean rather heavily on Goya's depictions of the horrors of the Peninsular War and his splendidly nasty painting of Chronos Devouring His Children, but would include lots of other artists and themes, including the painting the artist originally titled *Slavers throwing overboard the dead and dying. Typhoon coming on* as well as numerous depictions of the scourgings and crucifixion of Our Lord, and the various horrors endured by Christian martyrs.
