Dear Francine Less,

In reply to your letter "Keep Your Vaginas to Yourself" [January 5], I am writing as a big Vagina fan and a fan of the Vagina Monologues!! This show has done nothing but wonderful things for women, and is an honest exploration of the entire female experience. Violate women? I don't know what show you saw!

Eve Ensler, the writer of this show, started a revolutionary act to end domestic violence against women. Women from all over the world now feel strong enough to speak their minds and tell their stories. I am a student at Columbia College Chicago and through the V-Day Fund, which is the fund a portion of your $55 ticket went to. We as college students are given the opportunity to do one performance of the Vagina Monologues here at our school. It is an honor to us, and every single dollar that we raise is being donated to a local women's shelter.

No, we don't have music and flashy costumes, but that is not the point. It is the words that are the most important part of this show, and being part of an amazing revolution. So far, yes, you are the only one I know that did not love this show.

As for everyone else, come and support Vaginas! Columbia College's performance of the Vagina Monologues is February 15, 2001.

Vaginas Unite!!
