Love the idea of dusting the pan with bread crumbs. In all of the cakes I've baked, I've never thought to do this, but think it would be lovely with olive-oil based cakes in particular, and probably lots of others, too. Will be trying this soon!

George's question is a good one. Mike, do you butter/crumb the sides of the cake pan, and then put the parchment on the bottom? Seems unnecessary to butter/crumb the bottom of the pan itself, except if you did it on top of the parchment. George - to make a circle of parchment to fit inside the pan, just trace around the outer edge of of the pan, cut out that circle, fold it in half, and estimating the diameter of the center post, cut a smaller circle in the center. Unfold, slide it down into the pan, and you're good to go.
