Best show that made me feel like I bathed in radioactive grime

The Mopery's final show

The Logan Square DIY venue'sv last hurrah took place right smack in the middle of a stifling and humid stretch during the dog days of last summer. The space's concrete-jungle aesthetic and lack of ventilation (and windows) made for an entertainingly miserable shit show. The air bludgeoned you in the face once you reached the top stair and desperately clung to your clothing to the point where burning them the next morning seemed reasonable. I was only there for two hours at most (the jam-packed, mega-booked show featuring Running, Sun Splitter, and Tiger Hatchery, among others, reportedly ran till 4 AM), but sleeping in a running shower did cross my mind. —Kevin Warwick
