Best Novelist Moonlighting as a Bartender

Charles J. Saporito

Burke's Web Pub, 2026 W. Webster, 773-276-3411

Behind the bar of Burke's Web Pub, he's Charlie—a smiley, upbeat, tolerant bartender. Behind the keyboard, he's Charles J. Saporito, an aspiring fantasy-fiction novelist. Last summer, Saporito self-published his first book, The Order of Seven and the Book of Knowledge, an epic tale of secret societies, mythical texts, and magical planes of existence that's available from Amazon, BookBaby, or from the author himself. Saporito has been grinding to get the word out about his book—and has also begun work on the sequel, so it looks like The Order of Seven could become a full-on series. Just goes to show: the next time you order a pint, your bartender might have something a little more interesting to discuss than the Cubs score.
