The New 400

6746 N. Sheridan

Depending on your temperament, sitting through 137 minutes of the latest installment of Pirates of the Caribbean might require a stiff cocktail. Luckily, the proprietors of the New 400 are happy to oblige. The concessions stand at this four-screen hole-in-the-wall serves up standard moviegoing fare with your choice of beer, wine, and liquor, including premium brands like Maker's Mark 46. The newly renovated space is less run-down than it used to be but no more pricey. And with tickets in the comfortable range of $5 to $7.50, you can easily splurge on some booze to accompany your popcorn or Milk Duds. Better yet, order some rum and invent your own Pirates drinking game. —Sallyann Price
