Charm isn't something I'd expect from a show featuring a character named Puke--and this show not only has one, but he's presented as a magical being consisting of puke. Still, charm is what I got. Originally produced by the Neo-Futurists and revived here by its authors, Sean Benjamin and Steve Mosqueda of Drinking and Writing Theater, Beer! follows the adventures of ten-year-old Boon as he fights the evil, swill-producing Bud Miller by learning to make craft beer. Along the way Boon masters brewing terms such as “zymurgy” and “wort,” befriends cleverly wrought puppet characters such as loyal and wise Puke, and plumbs the nasty depths of Miller's Millweiser empire. The trip is punctuated with lots of fun songs played by a quartet that can act as well as they rock. --Tony Adler
