This trio of riveting, brutal monologues strikes me as one of Neil LaBute's stronger playwriting efforts, maybe because his patented nastiness is less arbitrary than usual. Each character--a baby-killing businessman, a gay-bashing frat boy, and a vengeful young mother--serves as convincing proof that the primal passions displayed in Greek mythology (to which LaBute frequently alludes) still flare up in ordinary lives. The acting in Brikenbrak Theatre Project's production is solid, but director Paul Cosca (who also plays the businessman) seems determined to distract us from it, loading up on intrusive sound cues and having the cast address their lines to an audience member chosen by lottery to sit onstage. The poor sap's reactions become a gratuitous part of the show. --Zac Thompson
