Bailiwick Repertory's Directors' Festival

Bailiwick Repertory's 13th annual showcase of projects by emerging directors features programs of short plays on double or triple bills. The scripts run the gamut from selections by Samuel Beckett and Sam Shepard to unfamiliar or untested material, including some by the directors themselves. The fest runs through August 29 at Bailiwick Repertory, Bailiwick Arts Center, 1229 W. Belmont, 773-883-1090. Performance times are Mondays-Wednesdays at 7:30 PM; tickets are $10 per evening.

MONDAY, AUGUST 27

What Where

Pauline Fatyga directs a short play by Samuel Beckett.

Up the Hill

Jason Kae directs his play about a young man's "struggle to free himself from his own emotional prison."

Three Men in a Basket

Gareth Davies's short play, about three men floating in a hot air balloon above the North Sea, is directed by Kevin Hanna.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 28

Red Cross

Lauren Golanty directs Sam Shepard's study of a couple whose vacation at a ski lodge is upset by the man's chronic case of crabs.

Illuminations

Enn Vetemaa's play concerns a group of people threatened by lightning. Gregory D. Gerhard directs.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 29

Beckett Poetry Project

Ligia Popescu directs her own stage adaptation of poems by Samuel Beckett.

Love Triangle

Two women must reexamine their relationship when one of them becomes pregnant, in Kyle Maude's drama. Ryan Magnuson directs.

The Circle

Laura Lynn Gouin directs a poetic theater piece by Craig Elliot Krstolic about humanity's relationship to the earth.
