Bailiwick Repertory Directors' Festival

Bailiwick Repertory's 11th annual showcase of projects by emerging directors features programs of one-acts, ranging from one to three per evening, that run the gamut from established classical and contemporary selections to avant-garde rarities and untested original material. The fest runs through August 25 at Bailiwick Repertory, Bailiwick Arts Center, 1229 W. Belmont, 773-883-1090. Performance times are Mondays-Wednesdays at 7:30 PM; tickets are $8 per evening.

Festival listings run on a week-by-week basis; following is the schedule for August 16 through 18 (subject to change).

MONDAY, AUGUST 16

Virginia

Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf? Not Edna O'Brien, who drew on the English novelist's fiction and journals for this portrait of Woolf and her relationships with her husband, Leonard Woolf, and her lover, Vita Sackville-West. Jennifer Shook directs.

La Dolce Vel Vita--Slices of My Life

Kristy Kambanis stages Tom Wolferman's collection of comic monologues reflecting on a 1960s adolescence.

TUESDAY, AUGUST 17

The Dispute

W. Shaunessy Ashdown directs this romantic comedy by 18th-century French playwright Pierre Carlet de Chamblain de Marivaux.

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 18

Tennis

Andrew Eninger's drama, about two sisters who seek refuge from the outside world in their childhood home, is directed by Andy Wibbels.

The Author's Voice

Richard Greenberg's dark comedy, directed by Kevin Gladish, concerns a handsome young author whose material is really the work of a deformed ghostwriter.
