Dear Sex Pig:

In the past I have made it a point to make the pages of the Reader part of my weekend. On the whole I found it to be a source for alternative points of view on issues that really matter to me as a member of my community (the gay community) and as a member of Chicago at large. I would even go so far as to say that it served the city in a way that suggests a social awareness that goes beyond that of most mass media.

Yet how does the piece on Brian-Mark ["This Little Piggy," August 29] serve any other purpose than to encourage fears and hatred of gays and gay lifestyle? As a gay man I am as sexual as anyone else, but I don't need the tattoo "Sex Pig" to express myself. The point being is that we need not make our emancipation sexual only. I have no interest in what turns this man on and was left confused by the point Richard Knight was trying to make. It seemed nothing more than a bio on the very things that cause the straight community to despise and fear people who demand freedom. These are the same people who run from anything that is larger than their own pleasure. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a prude, I'm just not a pig.
