Not to be confused with Baconfest, where local chefs make stuff with bacon, the third annual Bacon Takedown features the creations of 20 local amateur cooks who've each been given 15 pounds of Hormel bacon and permission to go wild. Last year's entries included bacon-wrapped mac 'n' cheese, bacon toffee lollipops, bacon pierogi, and bacon banana nut bread with bacon-bourbon glaze. At press time two slots for cooks were still open, but even if you don't compete you can go sample piggy treats.
