A discharged cop (John Candy) and an incompetent lawyer (Eugene Levy) try their luck as partners in a security-guard firm in Los Angeles. A few laughs trickle through here and there, and the cast is better than you're used to finding in Police Academy spin-offs, but it's mostly pick-up-your-paycheck-and-run time for all concerned. Director Mark Lester, a slovenly hand even at his nihilistically active best (Commando), seems only minimally involved here: the only time his interest awakens is when he's smashing cars or blowing things up. With Robert Loggia, Kenneth McMillan, and Meg Ryan; Harold Ramis had a hand in the script.
