A bumbling young police officer (Ryu Seung-beom) finds himself caught in a cosmic battle between good and evil in this goofy but highly entertaining South Korean martial-arts comedy (2004). Tired of getting kicked around by local thugs, he signs up at a struggling martial-arts academy run by the Seven Masters, who discover that their new student possesses a massive quantity of untapped chi just in time for their confrontation with a wicked apostate who wants to rule the world. This isn't in quite the same league as Kung Fu Hustle, but director Ryoo Seung-wan delivers a winning combination of humor, action, and slick special effects. In Korean with subtitles. 112 min.
