Northwestern University anthropology professor Robert Launay, who lived for several years in the Ivory Coast, speaks about the historical relationship between the cuisines of Africa and the U.S., and argues for a more prominent place for Africa in the American food scene. A luncheon afterwards, prepared by students and graduates from Washburne Culinary Institute, includes goat and groundnut stew, fish with attieki (fermented manioc), and mafe hakoo (beef stewed with cassava or potato leaves). Wine pairings are included. Reservations required for the luncheon.
