To the editors:

Whoever thought I'd see the very same criticism of one of Chicago's cultural stalwarts in both the Reader and the Chicago Tribune--not the same sentiment, but the same statement, word for word.

No, your writers are not doing double duty, but your correspondents are. The letter from G.R. Paterson detailing the perfidy of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in placing a prerecorded commercial on WFMT which appeared in your issue of February 16 also appeared in the Trib's "Voice of the People" on February 17.

The Trib edited out Mr. Paterson's idea of withholding funds from the CSO in reprisal, but otherwise the letters are identical. It's wonderful what word processors can do.

I don't read any other papers so I don't know if Mr. Paterson made a clean sweep of Chicago media, but I'll bet he tried.
