An adaptation of Margaret Landon's biography (which subsequently became the basis for The King and I)—the story of an English governess (Irene Dunne) hired by the king of Siam (Rex Harrison, in his first American film) to tutor his 67 children. The film won Oscars for best cinematography (Arthur Miller) and art direction/set decoration; John Cromwell directed (1946).
