CLOSED. Small, friendly Argyle Street spot with a 300-item menu heavy on the Chinese.

Our Review

Anh Linh is a small, friendly place with a lovely wooden bar that doesn't serve alcohol (though you can BYO) and a pair of blackjack video games labeled "Amusement Only." It's also a Chinese-Vietnamese restaurant that doesn't really serve Vietnamese food. When we pressed our waitress for Vietnamese suggestions, she flipped to the back page of the menu and pointed to the few banh mi sandwiches and pho soups. Anh Linh does make a decent beefy broth, long on the star anise, but on Argyle it doesn't stand out. The bulk of the 300-item menu is familiar Chinese, but with that much on offer there are a lot of less-familiar choices too, like fried pigeon and crab-stuffed fish bladder. The "Special Dishes" include sizzling deer meat, grilled wild boar, and curried rabbit, and there's a separate section just for frog.
