Re: “Cousin's Incredible Vitality

Why are all vegan restaurants so creepy? Cousin's, like every other restaurant of its type I've ever been to, has a heavy, serious vibe and zero sense of humor. You couldn't make a mild joke with the waitstaff; they'd just look at you all tilty-headed like a dog who's heard a high-pitched sound. The food sucked. Flavorless, depressing, dull. And there's an overwhelming stench of nag champa in the air, like they're trying to cover something up. I hate this place.

Re: “Raj Darbar

Everything was totally fine, completely medium. They were so eager to get us out of there that they turned off the music and turned the lights WAAAAAY up at like 9:45, which was unpleasant.

Re: “Promoting Rape Culture in the Sun-Times

If you think 20 percent is "beyond astonishing," not only are you not a woman, but you also don't have many women in your life who trust you. I WONDER WHY.

Re: “Indie Cafe

Good food, low prices, terrible service. Gorgeous presentation. The Thai food's better than the sushi, though I wish everything were a little spicier.

Re: “Vermilion

I can't believe this place doesn't get more business. The food is lovely, the room is comfortable, the service is great. We sat at the bar. I had seviche that had lovely peppers and beets and things mixed in. My friend had spinach empanadas that she raved about. This is a perfect place to have a drink and a snack after work. I think maybe the reason it's not more full is that it's next door to a cigar lounge and you have to walk through a cloud of cigar smoke to get to the front door.

Re: “Lula Cafe

If they're offering the black beans, polenta and scrambled eggs special for breakfast, get it. It was delicious.
