A team of explorers from a pharmaceutical company sails down a jungle river in Borneo, searching for a rare flower that will prolong life indefinitely (as if social security needed more trouble). Soon they're shipwrecked and bickering among themselves as gigantic anacondas begin snatching them away one by one. The Alien formula hasn't changed much in 25 years--one of the party is a traitor, sacrificing his companions for the sake of the mission--but the platoon of writers (including Michael Miner and Ed Neumeier, who scripted RoboCop) seem to know the virtues of economy and tight construction. Funny, suspenseful, and well paced, this is definitely a great time waster. With Johnny Messner, KaDee Strickland, Matthew Marsden, and Morris Chestnut. PG-13, 93 min.
