American Orpheus

A 1991 feature by Rick Schmidt, prolific maker of low-budget independents, about the relationship between an unmarried mother and her daughter; apparently Orpheus in this retelling of the myth is the father who returns to reclaim the mother. The film won the “gold award” at the Houston international film festival.
