The soulful young actress Magaly Solier (Blackthorn) manages to carry this dull, obvious Spanish drama by writer-director Fernando Leon de Aranoa (Mondays in the Sun, Princesas). She plays a Bolivian immigrant in Madrid who hires on to look after an invalid gentleman in his apartment while his grown daughter is away; when the old guy dies, the young woman declines to call the police and instead leaves him in bed, though if she’d ever seen Weekend at Bernie’s, she’d know that such situations almost never end well. Her boyfriend runs a fly-by-night flower business and needs to buy a refrigerator to keep his stock fresh, a big fat metaphor for her odd little project. In Spanish with subtitles.
