Re: “Battle Hot Chicken: The Roost vs. Leghorn

Finally - someone puts my thoughts into words. I have been severely disappointed with Leghorn, and agree that more focus needs to be put on the chicken and less on the do-gooder attitude. I personally found Leghorn to be far more expensive for what you get, size-wise (and flavor-wise). As a longtime Roost fan, I now regularly make the trek to their brick-and-mortar outpost, as well as weekly trips to the truck. The size of their sandwich chicken pieces has definitely decreased since their store opened, although I assumed that was to maintain a similar experience at both the truck and store. Their chipotle ranch is also one of the most incredible things I've ever eaten in my life. Leghorn, by comparison, serves chicken with breading that refuses to stay adhered to the chicken and is essentially flavorless. I was unimpressed. My only caveat about The Roost would be that I wish they would expand the store menu to include a few other sides like hush puppies or mashed potatoes.
