Alien vs. Predator

I've never played the computer games this was patterned after, but they've got to be more compelling than this dumb-ass feature by writer-director Paul W.S. Anderson (Resident Evil). Scientists and mercenaries explore an ancient pyramid buried in the antarctic and find it teeming with Aliens and Predators. Failure is not an option, hieroglyphics are deciphered, gooey stuff drips from above, and dopes who stray from the pack get an invisible spear through the guts or an ovipositor down the gullet. Ultimately a human and a Predator make common cause against a really big Alien—go bipeds! With Lance Henriksen and Sanaa Lathan. PG-13, 100 min.
