This is a very dated and inaccurate portrayal of English food. Food in America is gimmicky and tacky. Restaurant food often lacks any nuance and delicate flavors get lost in sickly rich offerings all trying to out do each other. Less can be more. It doesn't always need that extra something, a few simple quality ingredients speak for themselves. This blinkered and stereotypical view of the world beyond your (soon to be walled) borders, is exactly what has got you into your latest mess.
