Re: “What's the matter with Chicago?

Agreed. Fear is probably not what anybody needs. We also don't need chaos and molotov cocktails and all kinds of other nonsense that has only lead to more insanity. But some sort of wake up call whether it's G8 or not needs to happen. Otherwise we are just going to end perpetually getting less and less of the short side of the stick. Also yes Lefties are giant pussies. But we see what's happened with letting Assholes run shit for years. Maybe it's time for Dicks.

Re: “What's the matter with Chicago?

As a long time Chicagoan and artist I have always wondered the same exact thing? Why aren't we upset that the quality of living in Chicago is consistently decreasing, the amount of humane jobs are disappearing, taxes go up and services down, and our cultural institutions are sold off and destroyed? I know we have always prided ourselves as a people willing to put up with anything, carry anything on our shoulders, and deal with hardships that would crush other cities, but how far will we let it go before we have nothing? Thank the gods Javorsky and the Reader exist but the eeriest feeling is that so many people want to pretend nothing is wrong. Could it be, oh I don't know, because our public schools are dangerously close to churning out mostly illiterates? And they might not actually understand that something IS WRONG? Privatization is the end of freedom. If it belongs to the city it belongs to us. If it belongs to corporations it belongs to shareholders who, increasingly in America, will never be you. I wanted G8 so everyone could see there are actually desperate, dying people who hate the scam and are willing to fight and maybe enough fear would creep into Lakeview that we would actually start to look ourselves and imagine what we could have verses what we actually do.
