To the editors:

As any southsider can tell you, it was Laird Smith, not Levi Cobb, who sank in winning basket to win the 1976 state basketball championship [The Sports Section, March 1]. Perhaps Boomer, who was compelled to inform us twice how hard he works, might have been working a little too hard when he stated that he "can still see Levi Cobb sinking that long, smooth turnaround jumper."
