Against Equality: Queer Critiques of Gay Marriage, published by the Against Equality collective, documents the historical foundations of queer resistance to the gay marriage mainstream alongside contemporary critiques. Many in the queer community do not think that marriage should be the guarantor of basic benefits like health care. The panel will feature three of the anthology’s contributors: artist and collective founder Ryan Conrad, historian and UIC professor John D’Emilio and Yasmin Nair, a local writer and activist, followed by an open question and answer session.
