Re: “UPDATE: Evanston Public Library puts Palestinian-American author's appearance on hold

Thank you to all the good Evanstonians who thought that the author should be heard. Our new director now knows she has the community's support to engage in controversial topics without retribution. Intellectual freedom is one of the most important aspects of libraries, but sometimes its practice is more complicated than one would think. As a fellow librarian, I am well aware of the many challenges that libraries face, and that theory and practice are not allows the same, nor are all communities. Kudos to Evanston citizens and to Evanston Public Library for reconsidering.
